Tangible chief executive Karen Trickett has quit after 11 years at the Cello Group agency to return client-side as marketing director of one of the country’s fastest growing companies, Glasgow-based financial services firm Golden Charter.
The company is the UK’s largest provider of pre-paid funeral plans, appearing in The Sunday Times Fast Track 100 listings. Trickett is to take up the role of marketing director, reporting to chief executive Ronnie Wayte.
He said: “Having established ourselves as the market leader for our core product, Golden Charter continues to expand into further later life planning services. Karen’s breadth of experience across a broad range of sectors will be invaluable on that journey.”
Trickett, who grew up in the Glasgow, started her career as a trainee auditor at PwC in 1994, before spells at Britvic and Hasbro as a senior brand manager.
She took up her first agency job in 1999 at EHS Brann (now Havas Helia) as client services director, then moved back to Scotland once more as group account director at Navigator Responsive Advertising.
A year later, Cello Group merged the agency with a number of its other acquisitions, including Farm Communications, the Leith Agency, Target Direct and CCHM Ping to form Tangible Group.
At the time, the group employed 330 people throughout the UK and had a combined a combined turnover of £60m, with specialist businesses focused on advertising, direct marketing, data, digital, design, and PR.
Trickett remained client services director until 2011 when she was promoted to chief operating officer of Tangible UK and managing partner of the London agency. She was made group chief executive in December 2013.
Tangible chairman John Rowley will step back in to the CEO role, a position he held until 2013, and continue to lead the Tangible business, working alongside the agency management team.
