Thorpe ends up on compost heap

thorpe ends up on compost heapThe direct marketing industry’s hopes of having someone in the grand final of BBC TV’s Big Allotment Challenge have ended up on the compost heap, after Conversationglue’s Alan Thorpe was booted off the show on Friday.
Thorpe, the former Indicia, G2 and Acxiom data chief, has been digging for victory since the show first aired 5 weeks ago. Sadly, though, following issues with his “immature okra” and “slimey” chutney his time has come to an end.
The BBC Two show, which pits nine individual gardeners head to head and is hosted by Fern Britton, was filmed last summer when Thorpe was on “gardening leave” before setting up his new venture.
However, it seems he paid the ultimate price for not winning more than two “best in shows”, meaning his budding career as the new Alan Titchmarsh has been left to wither on the vine.
After being eliminated, Thorpe said: “I’ve landed up on the compost heap, almost there but a week too soon.  It’s been a lot of fun, I’ve met some great people and grown a lot of interesting crops, I’ve learnt a lot of interesting things. No regrets I think the right three people have gone through to the final.”
