Schuh bolsters senior team with top marketing duo

schuh_duo_againFootwear retailer Schuh has made a double appointment to strengthen its leadership team, as part of its ambition to become “an unrivalled destination for socially conscious students, Gen Z and the next Generation Alpha”.

The company, founded in Livingston, Scotland in 1981 and now has more than 120 stores in the UK and Ireland, has recruited Stephanie Legg as chief marketing officer and Justin Lodge as chief digital officer.

Legg brings 20 years of distributed commerce and multichannel consumer marketing experience gained in-house and agency-side across fashion, fintech, retail, FMCG, utilities and entertainment.

Having started her career at Proximity London in 2004, Legg then had spells at Meteorite and the Bio Agency before switching to Arcadia Group in 2010 as senior digital marketing manager. Over the following decade she moved up the ranks to global head of marketing, leading the digital marketing and brand marketing teams.  More recently Legg has held senior marketing roles at Laybuy, Threads Styling and Collagerie.

Meanwhile, Lodge is an omnichannel retail professional with experience leading multi-disciplinary teams, global ecommerce operations and regional store networks.

His previous roles include CMO at Superdry, where he was responsible for the strategy and execution of digital channels, as well as international director at Boohoo, where he expanded the fashion brand into international markets.

Schuh, which is owned by Genesco Brands, operates its own flagship website, where it sells over 80 brands, including Converse, Vans, UGG, Nike, Adidas as well as its own Schuh label; its footwear is also available through retail outlets including Asos, Very, Amazon, Next and Rakuten.

In 2022, the firm launched its first points-based loyalty scheme, dubbed the Schuh Club, offering money-off rewards that are automatically sent to customers to spend on their next purchase.

Schuh president Colin Temple said: “It is more important than ever that we make our customer touchpoints as seamless and inspiring as possible, which can be demanding in this ever-changing marketplace.

“I am delighted to have two new leaders bringing a wealth of experience that will continue to deliver growth for Schuh.”
