It was a funny old week; suddenly people I hadn’t heard from for two years started coming out of the woodwork. “Oi Ivan, how did you manage to get this cushy little number,” was the general sentiment. Now, it was great to hear from you all, although inevitably there were a couple of people who I wished had crawled back under that stone – but hey, as they say, you’ve got to take the rough with the smooth…
Bizarre story of the week, part one: John Ingall has decided to quit agency life to go and live in Corsica. According to the AIS press release, “Ingall took an extended sabbatical this year. It was during this time that he decided to take a much longer break and enjoy the things he hasn’t had the chance to do whilst running a busy agency. No wonder Jingle has decided to quit for good – he’s probably thoroughly pissed off that they’ve done so well without him…
Bizarre story of the week, part two: Type in the words decisionmarketing.co.uk into Google and it comes up with the phrase “do you mean precisionmarketing.co.uk”? Now, given our esteemed boss’ past life as editor of that “gone but not forgotten” august organ, isn’t it somewhat ironic that he is getting a free ad on Google? Maybe he planned it all along, then again, it is alleged you could write all he knows about search engine optimisation on the back of Rizla packet…
Bizarre story of the week, part three: With nearly 300 staff facing redundancy at the COI, how many of the people who have been responsible for promoting the Government will end up sweeping the streets of the capital under the new plan to force long-term unemployed people into unpaid manual work?
