Ogilvy UK grabs top spot again in DMA Awards shortlist

DoveOgilvy UK has continued its decade-long domination of the DMA Awards finalists, with 24 campaigns on the shortlist – 14 of which are for its Dove client – as the agency vies to make it another top night following last year’s Mayor of London’s “Have a Word” grand prix winner.

The annual DMA Awards claims to showcase the best campaigns and talent the data-driven marketing industry has to offer, with a wide variety of agencies, brands, and sectors from across the UK represented.

The industry body insists the scheme rewards the most inspiring and effective campaigns that always have the customer at their heart.

This year’s shortlist includes entries from 58 different agencies across the 39 categories, with 184 campaign entries still vying for silverware, including the grand prix.

Just behind Ogilvy on the shortlist is Rapp with 22 nominations, followed by TMW Unlimited (11) and Armadillo (8).

The top client finalist is Dove with 14 nominations, including for “Toxic Influence” (pictured), which featured a number of mother-daughter duos engaging in conversations around the beauty advice that is prevalent on apps such as Instagram. Meanwhile, campaigns for KFC, P&O Cruises, and Vodafone all received five nominations.

As is the tradition, over 400 senior marketers from agencies, brands and specialists helped to judge this year’s awards over the five days of judging across the UK that went into creating the shortlist based on the three key pillars of strategy, creativity and results.

DMA managing director Rachel Aldighieri said: “The DMA Awards is a fantastic opportunity for marketing talent to show the industry who they are and why their marketing matters.

“Each year, we love to see how their work is evolving with consumers’ increasingly complex challenges and demands. Our judges were particularly impressed with how this year’s shortlisted work inspired the UK public and drove meaningful change through their creative flair and strategic direction.”

The winners will be revealed at a gala dinner on Tuesday December 5; for the full 2023 shortlist visit the DMA Awards website>
