IPA launches blog to attract grads

The IPA has launched a new blog designed to attract talent from a range of undergraduate disciplines to the industry, while giving students the insights, advice and opportunities necessary to succeed in advertising.
The blog complements other IPA initiatives, including the Summer School – launched two years ago by then DM Group chairman Chris Whitson, planning partner at Stephens Francis Whitson.
The blog – Gradvantage – is written by three IPA graduates, Emma Blackmore, Flora Malein and Jordan Woolley. It contains topics covering:
● Why work in advertising?
● Getting to know the industry – events, blogs, videos.
● Grad scheme news and updates.
● Inspiring work from the industry.
Woolley said: “Advertising as a career choice is off the radar for a lot of the best talent coming out of universities, and we’re keen to address a growing need for new starters from a broader range of disciplines. The blog sets out to make advertising a consideration for grads that traditionally might have been headed for the City, and gives anybody interested in getting into the industry a head start with thought-provoking pieces, demystifying advice from top ad people and the latest information on grad schemes.”
Any agencies interested in providing student-focused content to the blog, or details of their grad schemes, should email gradvantage@ipa.co.uk, to which Emma, Flora or Jordan will personally respond.
