The Salocin Group-owned Edit Agency has boosted its charity proposition by swooping for the trade and assets of data insight and systems agency Wood for Trees, reuniting former chief J Cromack with the business.
The move is the latest acquisition by The Salocin Group boss Nick Dixon, who has plans to build a data powered marketing services group, focused on marketing technology, CRM, analytics, content development, and media optimisation.
Founded by ex-Occam director Jim Baggett in 2007, Wood for Trees signed a funding deal with MyLife Digital in 2015 and drafted in Cromack as chief executive; Baggett resigned as a director the same year but carried on working for the business until July 2016.
Inc & Co purchased MyLife Digital, Wood for Trees and Insight Analysis in 2020 but offloaded MyLife Digital to German privacy specialist DataGuard, just eight months later.
Cromack left in 2021 and became executive director of innovation, partnerships and privacy at Edit Agency, as well as chief growth officer at The Salocin Group in February last year.
Inc & Co chief executive Jack Mason said the synergies and strategic direction of both The Salocin Group and Edit Agency “were obvious for us as investors to realise this investment”.
He added: “Edit Agency is an ideal home for the Wood for Trees employees and their fabulous clients. We wish the team every success.”
Wood for Trees specialises in helping charities gain more value from their data assets. The company will join existing brands Edit and Join the Dots, which deliver intelligent data solutions, marketing technology, customer acquisition and retention strategies for major brands and charities.
Wood for Trees’ solutions include InsightHub for Charities, designed from the ground up to compile, visualise and democratise insights for charitable organisations looking to boost supporter engagement and maximise return on fundraising activities, providing the detailed level of understanding any charity needs to thrive.
Nick Dixon, chief executive of Edit Agency and founder of The Salocin Group, stated: “We are delighted to welcome the Wood for Trees clients and the talented employees which will create an even greater supporter engagement agency in the charity sector.
“Charities are a particular focus for us, especially with our B Corp certification, as we look to extend the number of purpose-orientated organisations we work with.”
“Combining Wood for Trees’ data insights for the charity sector with Edit’s capabilities in CRM strategy, data platforms and marketing technology and Join the Dots’ data-driven media planning and acquisition team, will help us optimise supporter connections for the charity sector. Together we will be serving over 50 charity clients.”
